PM Surya Ghar Eligibility and Documents
Most homeowners in Uttar Pradesh with a valid electricity connection qualify. Here are the conditions, and the few things to keep ready before you apply.
Check If I'm EligibleWho can apply
- You are an Indian citizen.
- You own the house, and its roof is suitable for solar panels.
- The house has a valid electricity connection in your name.
- You have not already received a government subsidy for rooftop solar.
What to keep ready
Electricity bill / consumer account number
The portal fetches your connection details from your DISCOM using the consumer account number printed on your bill.
Mobile number
Registration on the national portal is done with your mobile number and an OTP.
Bank account details
The subsidy is credited straight to your bank account after commissioning.
Government name proof (if asked)
Since September 2026 the portal may ask for an undertaking and a name proof such as Aadhaar or a Voter ID when your application details do not match closely enough.
The portal can ask for more during the application. As your vendor, we tell you exactly what is needed at each stage and upload the installation details ourselves.
Is your roof suitable?
A roof is suitable when it has enough shade-free area for the panels and can carry the mounting structure. As a rough guide, the national portal suggests 1–2 kW for homes using up to 150 units a month, 2–3 kW for 150–300 units, and above 3 kW beyond that. We confirm usable area, shade and structure at the site survey before you commit.
